Nice article, but I was really hoping for more detail on the ice pillars themselves – that’s what I’ve been really interested in.
One of my major questions – what you used for the mold – was answered, but I do have several others if you don’t mind elaborating:
1. Which mold did you use exactly?
2. The molds look one-sided (i.e. you’ll have a textured side from the mold, and a flat size). How did you deal with this to make the pillars?
3. It looks like you mixed colors semi-randomly into the resin for the pillars, right? Clear resin with colors?
4. I’m guessing you hit the ice with a relatively fine sandpaper to give it the frosty look, instead of just being clear?
I’ve been hoping for this article for a year and a half, so I could create some of those pillars – they are incredible, hoping you’ll share a bit more detail.

some of the molds used were from Woodland Scenics, and some were custom molds that I had made.
The pillars were made using custom molds.

Amazing Style! But which material do you used to cast the Ice and which paints do you used to make this super naturalistic blue?
