Ice World/ Legion of Everblight Terrain
by Senji on Feb.27, 2009, under 2009 Warhammer 40K Terrain, Terrain, Warmachine Terrain
Here is a piece I just finished. It’s partly inspired by a Helldorado board I saw. At some point I will be doing a tutorial showing you how to make this.
20ft. X 12ft. Herod’s Temple
by Senji on Feb.27, 2009, under News
I found this article very interesting. If you are into terrain building you have to check this out.
“Alec Garrard has painstakingly worked for 30 years on an astonishing recreation of Herod’s Temple.
But despite spending all that time and effort the retired farmer believes he won’t finish it in his lifetime as he keeps finding things to add to it.
It was his fascination for religion and buildings which first started Alec on the Biblical project which now measures 20ft by 12ft and is housed in a seperate building in his garden.
His version is so impressive that some of the world’s top archaeologists and experts from the British Museum have come to view it.”

Skullcrafts Groundcover
by Senji on Feb.25, 2009, under News, Reviews
Skull Crafts has an awesome assortment of colourful ground cover material. I recommend buying some of their
leaf scatter and static grass. It will add a nice touch to any miniature base, gaming board or diorama. All of the Skullcrafts
products come in tins with see through tops. It makes storage and indentification so easy.
I really like their products and will be using some of them in upcoming tutorials.
Leaf Scatter
FAERY LEAF SCATTER
The leaf scatters are made from birch seed pods. Although you can make something like this yourself
it’s so much easier to buy it from them. The pods need to be cleaned, sterilized, and then dyed before you can use it.
Skullcrafts dyes all of their leaf scatter with colourfast colors to prevent bleeding.
These leaves will look great on and under trees, and on miniature bases. Use white glue or matte medium to
fix the leaves in place. The Faery Mix Leaf Scatter is made with
2 shades of purple and 2 shades of pink. It comes in a clear lidded tin holding approximately 6 grams of
materials.
FLAME MIX LEAF SCATTER
The leaf scatters are made from birch seed pods. Although you can make something like this yourself
it’s so much easier to buy it from them. The pods need to be cleaned, sterilized, and then dyed before you can use it.
Skullcrafts dyes all of their leaf scatter with colourfast colors to prevent bleeding.
These leaves will look great on and under trees, and on miniature bases. Use white glue or matte medium to
fix the leaves in place. Flame Mix Leaf Scatter is made with 2
shades of yellow, 2 shades of orange and 2 shades of red. It comes in a clear lidded tin holding approximately
6 grams of materials.
Static Grass
SWAMP MIX STATIC GRASS
The swamp mix static grass is very similar to other brands of static grass. The only difference is the colour.
The Swamp Mix contains green and purple coloured static grass. How cool is that!
Static Grass is made from a mixture of varied lengths of rayon fibers,
which are carefully dyed with colorfast colors to eliminate color bleeding. The static grass is also blended
with a minimum of three varying shades to produce a non-uniform color and texture (much like you would actually
find in nature). The material can be used to represent fields of grass, weeds and semi-long grassy areas.
Use glue to adhere the grass to bases.
I used some of this material in my Legion of Everblight tutorial.
Cork
Cork is a great material to use in terrain. Most people use them for rocks, and other build structures out of
it.
Skullcrafts sell three sizes of cork- Boulders, Rubble/Rocks, and Cork Scatter.
The corks are made from cork tree bark, and have been hand cut and shaped. It can be used to represent various
size rocks. The Cork Scatter is very fine and can be used to texture buildings or become a rusty surface on a vehicle.
Glue the cork in place and shape it with a sharp hobby knife.
Vegetation
The Vegetation comes in four colours- Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter. Skullcrafts dyes miniature pine
with colour fast dyes. They are also treated
with a natural preservative product that helps to keep them fresh. The material can be used to represent
several different kinds of vegetation; jungle vines, ivy vines, creeper, river reeds, etc.
The vegetation is very easy to use. Just poke a small hole in your groundwork, apply glue
and then stick the vegetation in.
I used some of this material in my Legion of Everblight tutorial.
All of these products and more can be found at http://skullcrafts.com

Sintra
by Senji on Feb.25, 2009, under News, Reviews
Sintra is a PVC foam board that is perfect for scratch building and in making wargame scenery.
It primarily used for photo mounting and display and costume construction.
Sintra is available in several sizes and colours, but for our purposes 1mm-3mm will work best.
The sheets are hard and very durable. It is also water proof and doesn’t warp easily.
You can easily carve or scribe details like brick work into Sintra. When joining pieces of Sintra together
use cyanoacrylic glue’s. I also, recommend lightly sanding the surface before painting.
You can purchase sheets of Sintra at the http://www.Foamboardsource.com
